Flachauwinkl's new 22' pipe in Austria

This was my first contract in Austria and it went incredibly well, especially with a metre of fresh snow to start with. I had 9 days starting 11th January to prepare FlachauWinkl a new 22ft pipe. This was not a long time for a pipe build so everything needed to be well in place and on time, and it was. These guys were organised and ready for action so it was game on as soon as I arrived.

We had plenty of snow, natural and machine made so it was all about mixing it well and getting it in place. During the whole time, it snowed pretty constantly so having the ability to see was really the only problem. Seppi, Hans and all the team are a great bunch of people and the hospitality they showed me was also very easy to get comfortrable with. Rupert in the workshop was also a great help with getting the cat setup with the Zaugg. I've never seen such a well looked after 300w with 10,000 hrs.

I used our laser guidance system which proved quite an essential tool once again for placing the snow with the cat, and doing it in some conditions where seeing was not the best. Doing this all fast and efficient was also key. All the team provided assistance to get the pipe built and open on time, and a big thanks to all.

I built the pipe initially with a Zaugg but on my return visit to Flachau in February I will be demonstrating to them a 22' Global Cutter that we have shipped from New Zealand. Now that the Zaugg walls have been in place and tested by the riders, lets see what we can do with the Global Cutter Demo, due to arrive 17th feb. The difference is going to be very noticable, but don't take my word for it, if you're in Europe come and test it for yourself!
